This was by far the best best book in the series!!!!! I absolutely fell in love with it. I keep going back to reread my favorite parts which is pretty much the whole book or the parts with Tod. I laughed and cried throughout the whole book. It was just simply wonderful, especially for all the Tod fans. He definitely shines in this book. This book sure took me on an emotional roller coaster ride.

Kaylee walks in on her father and Tod talking. She is told that she is going to die very soon. While she has that worry about, she also worries about how to take Beck down. She doesn't want to die and leave her friends and family in trouble. So of course, she is on another mission. She sets aside her fears of dying, and puts everyone else first. That is what I love about Kaylee, and why I connect with her so much. She doesn't go down without a fight.

Tod is just AMAZING!!!! He is one of my favorite male characters of all time. I have loved him since the beginning. In this book, I got to see a lot more of Tod. I also got to see how he truly feels for Kaylee and what he would actually do for her. I loved every scene with him in it. Tod's character just blew me away. I have been waiting along time for something to happen between Kaylee and Tod. When it finally happened, I squealed and cried. It was beautiful!!!

I like Nash as a character, but he does something really bad in this story again. I understand why he did it, but still, he shouldn't have done it. I never believed he was meant to be with Kaylee even since the first book. When Sabine came into the story, I realized that they for perfect for each other. Sabine really grew on me in this book. She even admits that she likes Kaylee. That was a shocker.

I am not not going to give away the ending to this story, but I was shocked!!! I actually didn't expect that to happen. I loved it though!!! I can't wait to read Before I Wake!!!! I need to read it right now!!!! Rachel did a fantastic job with this story!!!

This book changes the series for the better. I am really looking forward to reading the last two books now. I was already pretty hooked because the story is unique, smartly written, and has some unconventional yet compelling characters. It also deals with some interesting, dark themes without being depressing. However, I felt like there needed to be a shift of direction and this book achieves that. Tod was a favorite from the start so I was disappointed when he didn't have a larger role at first, but that's no longer a problem. I love where the author went with his character in this book. I think readers of the previous books will be very happy with this one. Book 4 was an improvement on Book 3 (and I can't help but love Sabine), and this Book 5 is an improvement on Book 4. It's hard for a series to get better towards the end of its run but the Soul Screamers series has accomplished that.
Wow guys!!! Just...WOW! If I Die is the fifth in the Soul Screamer series and let me just tell you that it is by far the most surprising and emotional book so far in the series!

In each of my Soul Screamers reviews I say that 'this' book is better than the last, but its really true! Each one gets more and more intense (which leads me to believe that I may not survive reading the last in the series). In the previous book we dealt with a lot of heavy duty stuff - Nash's post Frost re-acclimation to school and the introduction of his bad girl ex, Sabine. But in If I Die we start off with a bang...Kaylee learns her time is up - she's on the reapers' list and she's only got days left. For the entire book that fact looms over Kaylee's head and drives a lot of her choices in this book. And throughout the whole book I was really curious how author Rachel Vincent was going to pull it off. Since there are two more books after this one in the series I wondered how this big problem would be resolved in the end. I must say I didn't see the exact ending coming. Vincent managed to surprise me and please me with the resolution and now I'm dying (no pun intended!) to see how this book's ending will affect the next one.

Tod. TOD. Oh how I love thee, Tod! He plays a major role in this book and he gets a lot of face time here. I always love seeing more of him, but in this book he finally really gets to shine. This book is heart-melting and heartbreaking all at the same time and don't be ashamed if you shed a tear or two because I certainly did. The surprise ending...ya know, the one after the other surprise ending...had tears going down my face!

There's really not more I can say about If I Die without giving away major spoilers, so I'll stop here before I tell you EVERYTHING. Just know that this book has a lot of twists I just plain didn't see coming and I am thoroughly impressed with how amazing this series has become!

Recommended for fans of plot twists, love triangles, reapers, intense emotional endings, and things you never thought would happen actually happening.
