I am a psychologist who loves H. P. Lovecraft so I felt like this book was written for me and I absolutely loved it. The setting is a psychiatric hospital that used to be a fort and is 100's of years old. It is in Alabama with old trees covered in Spanish moss which is the only big difference from a Lovecraft setting. Slowly but surely our main character, Eric, is sucked into a fantasy world run by the "old ones". Much to his dismay he realizes that many of his patients delusions are based on the old ones. Eric tries to return to a "normal" life but it's too late for him. It is absolutely stunning in its ability to make you relate to the characters. Wonderfully written, I would recommend this book to anyone and I will definitely get other titles by this author.

Great book..... If you like ghost, demons and such you will love this book... I recommend this book!!! Great read!
I found out about this book on a blog back around Halloween time when looking up ghost stories. When I read this I was pleasantly surprised by how well it was written and the fact that there was a lot of thought put into it. I am certainly a fan of Jessica Penot and I will look into future purchases.
This book is absolutely amazing from start to finish-couldn't put it down! This author takes you on one heck of an exciting journey. Bravo Jessica! Please let there be many more!
Just couldn't get into this. I didn't like the main character and really didn't care what happened to him. The ending was a bit rushed and could have been better developed. I liked some of the family exchanges which gets it the 3 stars.
This book really had me guessing. I'm still not sure if I understand the ending but the journey of the book was well worth it! I'm really enjoying this author. She knows her beloved Alabama very well and as a frequent visitor of the state I can identify most of the places she mentions. I liked "Accidental Witch" a bit more because it was written with a touch of humor.
This book is a page-turner. The plot is suspenseful and moves steadily along, if a little confusing at times. The dialogue is excellent, and the author includes just the right amount of well-crafted descriptive detail. The characters are complex and believable. The book could benefit from good editing, as the typos were distracting. Overall, I enjoyed it a great deal.

Review Jessica Penot is an amazing writer with the ability to write a psychological thriller that will leave you wanting to crawl under the covers and hide! "Circe", is about a man that would do anything to make his wife happy, even though he's still unable to stop cheating on her. So, when the couple moves back to their old home in Alabama and he takes on an internship at a local mental asylum called 'Circe', he doesn't realize the true insanity that will consume him or what his ambition will cost him in the end.

A classic story of one human being realizing that the line between perfect sanity and insanity is paper thin and sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between the two. A fantastic tale and very commendable book. I would definitely recommend it!
